Executive Director
Vonda Merrill is the Executive Director of Home Sweet Home Care and has been committed to working with the ID/DD population for over 30 years.
As a graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, Vonda earned a BS in Child Development and Family Relations. She always knew that she wanted to work with families, children, and individuals with developmental delays. While attending college, she worked summers and breaks in a group home for adult women with Developmental Disabilities in Dix Hills, New York. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she was a counselor for at risk teens, a Guardian Ad Litem Advocate for children in family court, and a Resident Advisor on campus.
Upon graduation, her first job was with Pitt County Public Schools in Greenville, North Carolina as a Severe/Profound Classroom Teacher. Throughout her career she has served as a Case Manager for Early Intervention, Head Start Teacher, Executive Director for Child Care Services, Service Coordinator at the Matthew's Center, and an Autism Consultant for Spotsylvania County Schools.
For the past 8 years she has opened her personal home to adults with Intellectual Disabilities as a Sponsored Residential Provider where she offers daily support for 2 individuals. In her spare time, Vonda is the proud mother of 2 children. Her daughter is a 4th year student at the University of Virginia, and her son is a 10th grade student at the local High School. In her spare time, Vonda enjoys traveling, gardening, and interior design.
She earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Webster University and plans to use all of her life experience to assist others to find peace of mind housing solutions in the Northern Virginia Area.QDDP
